Supported Housing
Threshold’s supported housing provides accommodation with support, a place where service users can develop their opportunities and make choices about their futures.
Threshold’s schemes in Tameside and Oldham were developed though partnerships with Registered Social Landlords (RSLs). The RSLs are the landlord and Threshold is the support provider and first point of contact for service users.
Threshold’s current RSL partners are Regenda Group, Great Places Housing Group, New Charter Housing Trust and Northern Counties Housing Association. In addition we are working in partnership with First Choice Homes Oldham, which manages Oldham’s council housing, to extend the range of supported housing on offer.
Service users either sign up to a six month renewable shorthold tenancy, if they have self contained accommodation, or a licence agreement, usually when accommodation has shared facilities. Further details of charges and specific conditions of occupancy and house rules are available by contacting the individual service.
Threshold’s support services are funded through Oldham and Tameside’s Supporting People programmes. This is a government programme that funds housing related support to homeless people and other vulnerable groups. Our overall aim is to meet a set of nationally agreed outcomes with individuals:
This means that the services at all schemes include advice and support on:
-
budgeting and debt advice
-
education training and job seeking
-
health issues and life skills
-
housing applications and moving on
-
benefits and grant applications
-
signposting to other services
Each service user has a support worker who helps them to work though a support plan with the aim of achieving independence.
The maximum length of stay at any scheme is two years. Most will stay for a shorter period of time. Threshold’s overall aim is to help equip people to move on successfully to independent accommodation.
If you already know to which scheme you wish to make a referral, please download a referral form and email, fax or post it to the relevant team. Applications can be made to more than one service. If you want to find out more about individual services please visit the relevant scheme pages. It is worth giving the scheme a call to discuss a referral in advance and to check availability.
