Drama group Acting on Impulse can now be counted among the growing number of organisations taking part in the Great Lives Skillshare week.  The group, a registered charity, has been working with Threshold customers to develop acting skills and express themselves through drama.

Skillshare is a jam-packed five days of activities designed to boost work skills, living skills, confidence and wellbeing. It takes places every 3-4 months.  Each day is given a theme, focussing on a different aspect of everyday living.

This time, the ‘YOU in your community’ day, which emphasises social involvement and volunteering was joined by Tameside Foodbank, Tameside Independent Living Forum and 2nd Generation Furnishings who provide cheap or even free furniture to those who need it.

An awards ceremony was held on Friday to celebrate progress and achievement among Skillshare participants, and was joined by New Charter’s Director of Development, Sean Stafford who was on a ‘back-to-the-floor’ day.

He has now helped to arrange some work experience for Threshold customers on a New Charter building project—a great opportunity.

As a finishing touch to the week, participants chose their favourite ‘feel-good’ tunes to be added to a Skillshare week music compilation.
