Conversion of Threshold Housing Project to a Community Benefit Society to be named Jigsaw Support

The board of Threshold Housing Partnership has recently taken a decision to convert Threshold Housing Partnership from a charity to a community benefit society (CBS) to be named Jigsaw Support. The conversion process places an obligation on Threshold to consult with its residents about the change.

The reasoning behind the change is our wish to bring all the supported housing activity carried out by the Jigsaw Homes Group under the umbrella of one organisation (Jigsaw Support) and establish this in the public consciousness as the supported housing provider of choice in the North West. By moving to the CBS model, we will be able to harmonise the constitution of Jigsaw Support with the constitutions of the six landlords within the Group so that they have the same voting rights, number of board members, etc. This will streamline governance within the Jigsaw Group and make decision making simpler.

The change does not impact in any way on your rights as a resident of Threshold.  However, we are obliged to consult you. The legal advice that the Group has received states that:

‘Consultation with (although not consent from) residents and employees will be required prior to any final decision to proceed, and responses to this consultation will need to be considered before making the final decision to convert. The conversion has no impact on the rights or responsibilities of residents or of employees.’
