Give and Gain Day 2015

Give and Gain Day is a massive annual volunteering event organised by Business in the Community nationwide. Threshold took part in activities in both Oldham and Tameside.

Give & Gain Day Newcombe Park

The Oldham Refuge became a hive of activity on Friday 15th May as part of the National volunteer initiative Give and Gain Day. Threshold staff were greatly helped by 20 fantastic volunteers from Jonesslanglesalle (JLL), Mitie Landscapes, J.Mills and Inspire Women make a fantastic difference by constructing a shed and raised beds to grow their own veg. The Garden and Scheme are being further supported by Sally Bonnie and Inspire Women to develop the grow model and create an oasis of calm at the refuge. The various teams involved will be returning in a couple of months to harvest the fruits of their labour, literally!

Give & Gain Day Spring Street

The OMBC Housing strategy team teamed up with Threshold and the New Charter building company to give time back at Spring Street by giving the training room and garden area makeovers on Friday 22nd May 2015. Twelve OMBC volunteers, Steve Shilly and New Charter decorators, customers and staff came together to transform the spaces both inside and outside. Everyone injected enthusiasm and hard work to ensure all the raised beds and garden areas were planted, fences painted and training room were finished ahead of schedule. This made a great difference to the site from 9.30am until 3.00pm working hard until the work had been complete! Josh, one residents at Spring Street said ‘I enjoyed the decorating and using my skills’ and PJ volunteered to maintain work by committing ‘I’ll be the guy to water and weed the raised beds’.
